Holy Spirit Tuned

Thoughts to Ponder:

As we ponder restoring our spiritual passion we must continually evaluate our spiritual growth without becoming too introspective. We should rather become Holy Spirit inspected. This year it becomes necessary to become more focused on the Holy Spirit and let Him take out of us and off of us what is unnecessary for each of us to carry. As Christians we need to be “little Christ’s” who emulate the Holy Spirit in our day to day activities. In order to do that we must be tuned into Him daily and download what He thinks would be most important for us to receive from our heavenly connection. It is almost as if we spiritually plug into our i-tunes internet connection and download the songs or videos that would be best for us after consultation with the Holy Spirit. In these unique days that we live we must become more Holy Spirit centered and not less. He is willing to uniquely transform us and make us a shining image of Jesus Christ Himself.

The whole purpose of this coming weekend is to help sharpen our spiritual senses so we can become more God like and less man like. That is what the Holy Spirit brings to us as the third person of the God-head: an earthly helper to form us into the image of the Son of God.

The entire Book of Acts was entitled the Acts of the Holy Spirit. It was unique stories of how the Holy Spirit worked with man to turn the world upside down. I think that it is important in our day to revisit the same Holy Spirit of the Book of Acts and passionately ask if He wouldn’t mind doing it again in our day. Wow—if we all would earnestly ask maybe he would answer and we would see miracles just like during the first century church. We have not because we ask not.

Let’s get prepared for this weekend by asking and believing for the Holy Spirit to show us His glory and perform His mighty acts in our day.

Action Items:

1. Read the Book of Acts over the next five days. (That would be about 5 ½ chapters per day)
2. Pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon ourselves individually and upon the church.
3. Begin stirring your faith by reading faith scriptures and stories of miracles in the Bible or other faith books.
4. As you fast spend some extra time in prayer and the Word.

Encouragement from the Word:

Philippians 3:12-21—I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: by no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning as onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running and I’m not turning back.

So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.

Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal. There are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals, and trying to get you to go along with them. I’ve warned you of them many times; sadly, I’m having to do it again. All they want is easy street. They hate Christ’s Cross. But easy street is a dead-end street. Those who live there make their bellies their gods; belches are their praises; all they can think of is their appetites.

But there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him. (Message)

As I read today's blog, I was reminded of a guest speaker I once heard. She challenged us to listen to the Holy Spirit more than we listen to our minds or our body. (Since we are made of body, mind and spirit) This seemed like an easy task until I realized how often I listen to the physical limitations that my body tries to restrict me to instead of listening to my spirit that wants to soar. This week, as I have made a conscience effort to tune into the Holy Spirt, I have been amazed how productive I have been physically and also how faithful the Holy Spirit has been to harvest real fruit. (Love, joy, peace, patience etc...) Thank you Pastor Ken for your blogs, I am being transformed daily because you have directed me to "the transformer".
